The of Management Kebbi State University of Science and Technology Aliero has directed the immediate shutdown of the institution following the murder of a final year student of Biochemistry by Aleiro residents.

Daily Star gathered that the student was beaten to death by Aliero’s residents as a result of the accusation of scamming POS Agent of N12000.

It was further learnt the student transferred N12000 to POS agent as money for his new phone, so he received the alert, but the POS agent did not receive the alert.

The POS agent decided to give him the money and take his phone number in case there was any error after the transaction.

Some hours later, the POS agent called the student to tell him that he had not received the alert, and the student said he should wait for some time.

Later, the transaction was reversed due to the network failure.

After receiving the alert back, the student returned to the POS agent to infirm him of the failed transaction.

The POS agent informed the people that the student was a thief and immediately, people gathered and started beating him which led to his death.

A staff of the university, whose identity he appealed to be concealed, confirmed the incident as well as the immediate closure of the university to Daily Star.

Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Nafiu Abubakar, also confirmed the incident to Daily Star assuring that the culprits would be brought to justice as arrests have so far been made.
