Striking Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, and the Federal Government of Nigeria will meet today, Tuesday, to find lasting solution to the contentious issues that made the university teachers to embark on a “warming” industrial action.

It could be recalled that ASUU had declared a four-week warning strike starting from Monday, February 14 to alert the FG on their unresolved demands.

Daily Star Nigeria gathered that FG and ASUU have been allotting blames on each other ever since the latter declared industrial action as each is accusing the other of insincerity.

Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, who is the Conciliator-in-Chief of the Federal Government has scheduled to meet with the leadership of ASUU on Tuesday in his office.

This was made known in a letter signed by the Deputy Director/Head Press and Public Relations in the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Mr Charles Akpan.

The letter read: “The Honorable Minister for Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige will be meeting with the Executive of Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU and relevant Government Agencies.
