Two students of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto from Ilorin have died in a ghastly car accident along Yawuri road in Kebbi state.

The bus was conveying students of the university, who were said to have been resuming after a long ASUU-COVID-19 ‘holiday’.

“Just this evening, my niece, Amina Ibrahim of UG 3, Islamic Studies and another student of Microbiology, Safiat Saadu UG 1, died in Yawuri in an accident on their way from Ilorin to resume at UDUS”, an uncle to  one of the deceaseds, Amina Ibrahim, who is also a lecturer in the university announced on his faculty’s WhatsApp group.

Some of the injured were rushed to the General Hospital, Yauri where they were receing some medical attention.

Efforts to reach the Dean of Students of the University, Prof. Aminu Mode, on the phone for more clarification were abortive.

Daily Star gathered that three of the injured students were referred to the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) for treatment.

Lecturers and colleagues of the deceased have expressed shock over the sad incident.

The Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto resumed academic activities on Monday January the 25th, 2021 and students have since resumed for lectures.
