The Concerned Civil Society actors in Sokoto have commended Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal for the various strides of his administration towards the development of the promotion of the rule law, justice and his stance on zero tolerance for Gender-Based Violence especially against women and children.

In a statement jointly signed and released on Saturday October 3 by the Coordinator SGBV Rabiu Bello Gandi, State Secretary CPN Tayo Fatinikun, and  National Coordinator of NACTAL Abdulganiyu Abubakar said the Civil Society Actors are keenly interested in the ongoing alleged abuse by Governor Tambuwals Special Adviser’s son who reportedly videotaped a private event without the consent of the other party who was at the time 16 years and released same to different social media platforms three years after, the case which is currently under investigation by the Sokoto police command.

He said the alleged act is tantamount to honor killing urging that justice be done in order to serve as deterrent to others.

They also urged the Governor to ensure justice was done and called upon the Nigerian police through the leadership of the Commissioner of police to leave a legacy of justice to the oppressed under his watch in ensuring proper investigation, diligent prosecution and not leaving any stone unturned.

They also appealed to the Sokoto state judiciary under the Attorney General and Chief Judge to give hope to the poor and draw the line by using justice to teach that private power and responsibility should always be used for public good.
