In what many have described as a good gesture in strengthening community policing, Kano state Governor, Abudllahi Umar Ganduje, has tested a CCTV control center in Kano.

The testing was seen on Monday morning in a 1-minute-45 second leaked amateur video.

In the video, television screens were seen showing different areas of Kano.

When contacted by Caliphate Post to verify the authenticity of the video, an aide to Governor Ganduje disclosed that it was “a test-run in order to check the efficiency of the CCTVs and to have a first-hand information on efficiency the personnel to handle the control center, it was just a test-run”, he said.

“It is part of Governor Ganduje’s strides in strengthening community policing thereby making Kano state safer for business and leisure.

“His Excellency has made Kano safer and more secured, that is why he received so many awards for provision of safety and security in Kano”, he added.

Many people have expressed joy with the installation of CCTVs in Kano city and the establishment of the CCTV control room saying that it would enhance safety and security in the ancient city.

CCTV installations is an on-going project in Kano, which is seen as a step towards beefing up security and drastically reducing crime in the state.

When completed, Kano is will be first state in Northern Nigeria to use CCTV to fight insecurity and crime.
