Kaduna State governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufa’i, has banned commercial and private motorcycles as a measure towards tackling banditry for the period of three months and will take effect from Thursday.

Daily Trust reports that the state government has also banned possession of weapons.

While announcing the ban at a press conference on Wednesday, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said tricycles have been restricted to operating between 6am and 6pm.

Daily Star gathered that Govenror El-Rufa’i earlier disclosed in a radio interview that the state government will shutdown the telecommunications network in banditry ravaged local government areas of the state and those that share boarders with the Katsina and Zamfara State.
