The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has assured the National Automotive Design Development Council (NADDC) of his office’s legal support on policies towards mass production of electric vehicles in the country.

Malami Who disclosed this when he received at his office the NADDC Boss, Jelani Aliyu on Friday expressed satisfaction on the achievements recorded by the agency since when Mr. Aliyu took over.

Malami said he is aware of the ongoing projects and policies of the Council around the country and notably the unveiling of the first Nigerian Assembled Electric Vehicle, the Hyundai Kona EV, describing it as a welcome development. He added that it is environment friendly, taking into consideration the global standards towards reduction of environmental pollution.

He test drove the Electric Vehicle after it was unveil to him by the NADDC boss, and was very impressed with its performance, adding that it is a good technology that should be embraced by the government.

The AGF also pointed out the opportunity for petrol stations to invest in EV Charging Stations. He assured the DG of the Office of the Attorney General’s partnership and support in regards to the necessary Policies and the Legislative and Legal Framework needed to facilitate the mass production of Electric Vehicles in the country.
