The Khadimiya For Justice and Development Initiative (KJDI) has trained 150 unemployed youths on different skill acquisitions in it’s efforts in the fight unemployment and youth idleness in Kebbi State.
The minister for Justice and Attorney General of the federation, Alhaji Abubakar Malami, SAN, said at the graduation of a set graduands in Argungu Local Government Area on Sunday that his NGO placed high premium on creation of job opportunities for the youths in the state.
“We have so far trained 150 unemployed youths on different skills in our untiring efforts to make our youths productive members of the society and self reliant in collaboration with the Bashir Garba Illo Foundation (BGI).
“We initially began with 100 youths, comprising males and females in Gwandu and we have now graduated 50 in Argungu LGA, and we are going to train 50 from Yauri and another 50 from Zuru as we planed to train 250 in the four emirates in the state,” he said.
Malami, who was represented by the Chairman National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Abubakar Usman, said more than 2,000 unemployed youths had so far been trained from the inception of the NGO to date.
“From the inception to date, Khadimiyya foundation has successfully trained more than 2,000 youths on different skills across the state.
“And we will continue to accord priority attention to wealth creation through the NGOs various interventions on youths’ empowerment,” he said.
Malami, while congratulating the graduands, urged them to put what they had learnt to use to benefit themselves and the society.
“On security in some parts of the state and the country at large, the Federal Government will continue to formulate policies and programmes that are aimed at checkmating the prevalence of banditry activities and insecurity in some parts of the country,” the minister assured.
Earlier, the Founder BGI foundation, Alhaji Bashir Illo, explained that there were about three million people in Argungu, adding that 60 per cent of were youths.
According to him, it was what informed their decision to lift some of these youths out of poverty by equipping them with different skills.
“I was inspired with various intervention of Khadimiyya on youth, hence my decision to collaborate with khadimiyya for my little contributions on the fight against unemployment,” Illo said.
Earlier, the Managing Director Achono Global Resources, Alhaji Aminu Sakaba ,stated that it was not the first time they were organising skills acquisition training for the youth under the sponsorship of the Malami’s NGO and BGI.
He thanked the AGF for his support in cash and kind, the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Samaila Mera, Argungu LG council and Principal Government Technical College for (GTC) for making facilities available throughout the programme.
“The skills acquired include, Animal Husbandry, Feed Making, Food processing, car wash, Hair Shampoo, Perfume and Room Freshener, among others.
” The two Foundations are planning to organize the same program in Yauri and Zuru Emirates,” he said.
In his remark, the emir of Argungu, represented by ‘Magajin Gari’, Alhaji Aminu Musa, thanked the two foundations for the intervention and expressed readiness to support initiatives aimed at assisting the youths in the area.
