A total of three lives have been reported dead in the Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, following a rainstorm which began on Saturday and lasted till Sunday.

Daily Star Nigeria gathered that several houses in the community were either collapsed or had their roofs blown off by the rainstorm.

Residents of the affected areas disclosed that the rainstorm affected many communities in the council, although Kankara, Nasarawa, and Matsiga were mostly affected.

It was learnt that while the rainstorm claimed one life in Nasarawa community, two lives were lost in Matsiga.

It was also learnt that one of the victims died when the walls of her room collapsed on her.

The victim, a woman, was buried on Sunday according to Islamic rites.

A spokesperson for Kankara LGA, Abdulkarim Sani, confirmed the incident to reporters on Sunday.
