Follow up on the accident story reported by DailyStar on Thursday revealed that no fewer than 21 persons, almost all young persons, were confirmed dead as a result of the ghastly road crash that occurred along Sokoto-Tureta in Sokoto on Thursday evening.

The accident happened around 6pm between a Golf 3 and a bus conveying 29 passengers at Bimasa, a border town between Zamfara state and Tureta Local Government in Sokoto state.

It was gathered 20 persons died on the spot of the accident and another died at the Specialist hospital Sokoto where they were rushed to for medical attention.

Families of the deceased, who where too shocked to speak to journalists, were seen retracting the remains of their lost loved ones at the Sokoto specialist Hospital.

Eyewitnesses could not explain how the accident happened as they claimed to have met the accident and that darkness had already descended they arrived at the scene.

The Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Nuhu Maishanu, declined to speak to journalists on the matter.

He asked our reporter to leave his number with his Personal Assistant for further communication because he was “attending to critical issues.”
