Governor Tambuwal of Sokoto state has declared tomorrow Friday August 21 as public holiday in commemoration with the Islamic new year 1442 AH. This follows a statement by the Sultanate Council which declares tomorrow Friday as the 1st day of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar.
In a statement through the state’s Head of civil service, Sani Garba Shuni, the Governor wished the entire Muslim ummah a happy new Islamic year and prayed to Allah to guide and bless Sokoto state and Nigeria.
